A costume a day keeps the monsters away...I knew that Halloween was going to be different because of COVID this year so I decided to make sure I fully enjoyed myself this Halloween cause I can. Since I am a costume major, I LOVE Halloween an dressing up so naturally I knew I would be able to come up with 31 costumes for everyday of October. Coming up with ideas and pulling costume pieces together would be the easy part but I wanted to make the challenge even more challenging; I was going to make 31 costumes using items I already owned first and foremost. If I didn't have certain items for a costume I would try to make it, purchase it secondhand or buy new, only if I was really desperate, from a local business.
Below is the collection of my 31 Halloween costumes for the month of October. All pictures are taken by me and my handy dandy iPhone & tripod. Check them out on my Instagram as well StitchSash Enjoy :) Have you ever thought about what you would grab if your house was on fire?
My answer is this evening gown. New Years Eve outfits are always difficult. Do I go buy a new outfit? Do I rummage through my closet and pull together a new outfit? Or do I say to hell with it and be comfy in my leggings and hoodie? Well this post is to give you inspiration to pull together an outfit with articles of clothing you already own. Who really NEEDS new clothes? I definitely don’t haha but when I do feel the need to buy new clothes I buy used at a consignment store or thrifted from somewhere like Value Village. Any little thing to help the environment and be as ethical and sustainable is my goal.
Today was an extremely gloomy, grey, wet and cold day here.
Went I woke up today I thought I would try to make the day brighter with my outfit. What better way to brighten the day with YELLOW. I've been obsessed with yellow ever since I purchased a mustard yellow spring jacket from Forever 21 when I was in Vienna, Austria a few years ago. Yes, you read that right Halloween is right around the corner! And yes summer is coming to an end :(
If you're like me and make your own Halloween costumes, now is the time to start! Halloween has always been a favourite holiday for me; dressing up, watching spooky Halloween movies, Halloween parties and the best part all the candy! My favourite candies are Reese's Peanut Butter cups mmmm. I always start my Halloween costume hunt on the very helpful, hard to cite pictures for projects, Pinterest! I have a Halloween board that has many different costume ideas that I usually look at before I start adding more to the board. This year when I looked at my Halloween Pinterest board I was brought down memory lane looking at my inspiration from previous Halloweens. Below are a few of my Halloween costumes from previous years to give you some Halloween inspiration! Mwahaha! Last year I dressed up as Velma from Scooby Doo, I received tons of complements and many people said I looked just like her! |
